I get it and it is completely normal. Had a room mate with a kid a while back. The kid was about that age and was completely worthless and a real brat at that. Your family friend's 9-year old grandchild sounds like an undiagnosed unmedicated ADHD kid. No shortage of them these days.
So here is an opportunity to identify coping skills for you to deal with people you don't care to be around. There is no shortage of them either and you will need to develop ways to get througfh your day without "flashing" or "lashing" out on people that annoy you.
Like the gangster NBA basketball player once proclaimed, "practice, we talkin' 'bout practice".
