I have the opposite problem. I just can't shut the f**k up. I meet a lot of people that react like you (probably because I say a lot of weird and random things). It dosesn't bother me much though.
I guess sometimes a conversation is just over and in this situation you could maybe change the subject or just go do something else.
Another help in those awkward silences is to just say what's on your mind. Like: "I really don't now what to say right now". You might get a laugh or even start a new talk about talking.
But maybe you just are a listener. That's a great thing. If you pull it off right you can get people to talk way more then you. If you just keep asking questions about the things they say and be interested.
