Is it normal to not know what i want to do with my life?

I don't know what I want to build my life on and what I should focus on. I'm not particularly good at anything and that hasn't changed since I was a kid.

Is It Normal?

  • It's normal. A lot of people change careers multiple times, and some people just have a job so they can pay for what they actually enjoy doing.

You don't really have to be "good" at anything either, that's what education and training is for. What kind of jobs are available in your country, and what kind of education is available to you? You might be surprised if you look into resources, there's probably a lot more than you're aware of. I grew up in poverty and had to tell basically all my other family and friends who didn't get into college they would still get grants and other financial aid even if they didn't go straight to a university. We were basically tossed to the side if we couldn't make our underfunded school look good.

Do you have preferences? Like do you prefer to work with people or by yourself?

  • Join the crowd.

I'm well on my way to retire from my second career and I still haven't figured out what I want to do when I grow up.

Sometimes careers or jobs you're good at just find you, or you take them because they pay the bills and you end up staying for one reason or another.

I will say right now is a good time to try different things out. Economy may suck but because of the pandemic there are still a lot of places hiring. Unfortunately for me most times that I was looking for a job, the job market sucked and you took what you could get that paid the bills.

I'm pretty happy where I am in life now, but really my schooling and jobs have kind of just presented the opportunity and I just didn't turn them down.
