I think it's pretty normal to not know for a while. When I was in high school, I thought I was bi for the longest time. I even had a few big crushes on males. (I'm female, just to clarify.)
But when I was 19 or so, I was at a party (a little drunk) and let a guy feel me up a bit. It was then that I suddenly realized that I find the idea of actually having sex with a man to be totally gross. I'm now in a very happy lesbian relationship. :)
