Is it normal to not have friends?

Well I have "friends" but I don't really class them as friends? Like I enjoy their company and will comfort them when they are in need of it but I just can't physically call any of the people I know friends, a true friend, you know? I think its down to my trust issues?
I haven't told them, they think we're friends but to me they are just acquaintances in all honestly I don't think I care about them either?
I just really want a friend... A real Friend.
Is this just me?!

    You're in the internet where many of the people that will be reading this will be in the same boat as you. Fortunately, I am not in said boat but here in this site, I see stories like this on quite a regular basis.

    It is not a remark against you though, as dirtybirdy said, true, good friends IRL are hard to find... and ever harder to find if you are here XD

        I understand, that's why I had to add the IRL. A lot of people that come here HAVE good friends over the internet and consider those friends to be "true" friends, so I was trying to ensure that you understood what I was saying.

    Yeah; it's always been this way for me too. I never really had friends, although my senior year in high school I found some people I really loved to hang out with and I'd classify them as friends. But I haven't seen them since, and the people I talk to are more of acquaintences than anything.
