People in general are dicks, and will hate people just because everyone else does.
I suggest getting involved with new communities. They won't have the same pointless stigma that others in your current community do.
Try online communities to begin with. If you're switching school systems soon (e.g. primary to secondary, secondary to tertiary) that's a good place to start IRL.
If that's already done, I'd have to say that the biggest community change you can make is moving away from home on your own dime.
