Is it normal to not have a " thought voice"

Me and my freinds were talking about how we think and stuff and then they started to talk about who their " thought voice" sounded like. And I'm just thinking to myself, " thought voice? What's that? I obviously don't have one..." so what I mean is, I just have thoughts. It's like I don't need to speak English in my head if I already know what I'm thinking. So I think I'm safe if Edward Cullen tries to read my mind cuz all he'll hear is the echo of his own thoughts lolz :D
lol. I also have a certain advantage : i read FAST!

Is It Normal?

  • Isn't your regular imaginary voice in your head a replica of your own voice? If you think your "thinking voice" is very different from your regular voice, you're probably not realising you're wrong, if it genuinely is different, then.. that's abnormal.

    • Well, a lot of times my thought voice will take on my teacher's voice after a lecture, just because I've been hearing hers so much more than my own for a while. Or sometimes it will randomly take on a British accent, but I don't know how to explain that one. :P

  • When I think, my mind murmurs without ceasing to. There is never a time where I'm not thinking. But, when I have conversations with myself, there is a commanding voice that sounds something like my father.

  • ok, you see like me, i like to talk to myself, like have huge serious conversations. i understand what you mean though. people with autism don't think in words either, so i'd say it's normal.

  • I have that too, but maybe we just don't notice?
