Is it normal to not desire sex or masterbation or even think about it?

I'm 18 and even without my purity ring i have never wanted to have sex or do anything sexual! and i mean anything. I've let a guy finger me but it was just weird. I don't really enjoy kissing either but i love being felt up. am i just a freak?

Is It Normal?
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

  • Maybe you haven't the right guy. The largest sex organ in the body is the brain. If your brain isn't there, neither will the rest of your body. If a guy doesn't make you tingle just being around him then he's probably not the one.

I also think that you may have hang ups because of your commitment to whatever your purity ring means to you. If you believe you need to be abstinent until marriage you will probably feel guilty for any sexual behavior and that will make it hard to feel good physically.

  • Being felt up is warm n fuzzy like a hug or a massage. I think you might have a hormonal imbalance. But that does leave you with being able to focus on other stuff, consider yourself lucky, at least you're not outrageously horny like the rest of us.
In this day and age, people have improved ways of enjoying sexual activity but it isn't what we live for, there are more enjoyable things.

  • I was about to write that you may have a hormonal imbalance, until I read that you do participate in sexual behavior (like being felt up).

Its whatever you think it is.

  • You're 18, sweetie. Focus on what you want in life and go for it. When the time comes for you to be ready, then you can focus on that. But right now, chase your dreams, and if you don't want sex in the future, it's perfectly normal.

  • Don't worry.

You don't have to rush into anything you're not interested in. It's OK to wait until you're ready.

And it's OK to never be ready too... there are some who just prefer directing their energies elsewhere.

In a nutshell, do not let anyone pressure you into going farther than you want or feel comfortable with. They don't have to live with the consequences of your actions - you do.
