I study psychology. Trust me, it's normal. It's a coping strategy. It can be considered a very mild kind of disassociation, where you shut yourself down so you can function under the pressure of something traumatic or extremely stressful. Someone mentioned Denial and that is a part of the steps many people in mourning go through. I'm sorry for your loss; I'm close to my Grandma too. Don't be hard on yourself; your Grandma wouldn't want that.
