Why is it that this attitude seems to come from young people who have never had sex at all, or certainly not enough experience upon to base such a comment?
Sex may not be the end all and be all of life, but if done right, it's one hell of a lot of fun. Intimacy with another human being is certainly a desirable experience for any normal, healthy person.
