I would not say it's abnormal but it seems to me you might be trying to put up walls of protection around your heart to keep people from hurting you. Eventually, you could put up such an impassable armor around your heart that you may end up numbing your feelings and not caring about anyone. It's like imprisoning your own heart and it's not much fun. We are humans, and as humans we do experience emotions...in order to feel more satisfaction out of life we have a basic need to love and be loved.
