  • It isn't really possible for anyone to diagnose people from reading a little IIN snippet, of course, but if I were you, I would talk to my doctor about the possibility of obsessive/compulsive behavior. It manifests itself in a lot of ways, but the common denominator is feeling compelled to tap/check locks/wash hands/make a sound to find relief from the obtrusive thoughts.

Please don't let it freak you out too badly. It's incredibly common. Plenty of people have at least a touch of it, and you are far from alone. Your doctor will be able to shed some more light on it. Don't suffer with it out of shame or fear; it isn't crazy, and it doesn't have to take over your life.

Good luck, and I hope you find ways to ease your concerns about this soon.

    • Very nice post, Prose. I agree completely and salute your compassion. To the OP, the Prose's advice and make an intake appointment with a therapist, before you get worse.
