  • There is no truth to this. Very few Americans pay no tax at all at any point.

    The figure you are thinking of is half of Americans pay no federal income tax. 74% of that half are either elderly or young working families that get enough deductions to avoid federal tax. Which leaves 13% of Americans paying no federal income tax without a traditional excuse however since one in 10 Americans has a serious disability it is probable that some of that 13% is made up by them. So I would estimate 4-5% of Americans live off welfare.

      • Department of Health and Human Services says 4.1%. So I turns out my estimate was right on the money. I guess you will have to keep wearing a tinfoil hat and denying reality while watching fox news.

            I've heard many conspiracy theories but that the US government is secretly more charitable than expected... That is a first for me.
