Is it normal to never want to leave the house

My sister who is in her twenties never wants to leave the house. She would rather stay indoors and watch television all day. I have tried to get her out of the door to have some fun but she always declines. Even to go to other family members. She says she feels more comfortable indoors and doesn't like going out. Do I need to back off or should I be worried?

maybe she has agoraphobia or social phobia.

Yes. We can't all be social and extrovert. I have never liked mixing with others and only went out because I had to. I have been agoraphobic since 2014 and was finally diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome in 2016.

Your sister might be agoraphobic, and or she might have social anxiety. I don't think it's advisable to push her too hard to go out, and about as it just might make it much worse. I think you should encourage her, and be willing to accompany her on trips outside. I also think she should seek psychiatric help, and medication if necessary as well as cognitive behavioral therapy, and exposure therapy for her condition.

She could be suffering from depression ,.
Ask her to go with you for a nature trail walk .
It's good to get out and get some fresh air and to look at nature .

If I didn’t have a job, I’d never leave my house. She should have a job.

That doesn't sound too bad then, as long as she goes out sometimes. She probably just likes relaxing by staying at home.

No it isn’t normal, but not really something to worry about either.
