Is it normal to never speak to my father?

Christmas eve of 2007 was the last time i spoke to my father.I just cant stand how mad he gets over stupid things,he had major drug and alcohol problems, witch he refuses to get help with,and he sexually abused my 2 half brother/sister.He gave my mom perminent brain damage from beating her when she was pregnant with me and when i was a small child.He has made no attempts to make amends or even appoligize.I just dont feel like i owe him anything.

Is It Normal?

    He has some serious problems, and if he won't get help then that really is it.

    You don't need him in your life. Just because he is your father he doesn't need to be there. IF he has done horrible things and never even tried to make ammends for it, then you it is perfectly reasonable to cut him out. Just because he is related to you does not make the terrible things he did any less terrible.

    I hope this isn't too emotionally hard for you.

    OMG! That is so awful! I'm surprised you've ever spoken to him. Carry on with your life without him, you are right, you owe him absolutely nothing!!! Let him wallow in his miserable rotten life but make sure he has no influence on your life!!
