You have to actually try, and ensure your standards aren't unrealistically high. Also, there are a few things that many typical girls expect: A job and a car. If you lack those, you cut yourself off from those whom have those expectations which is a sizable portion of the female population. As far as what girls are attracted to - Confidence (Projected in the tonality and body language, mainly), ambition/goal-orientation and humor. Those can be learned. As far as standards, yes, they can be *too* high relative to your ability to attract the people you want, that's why it seems to be an ever-lowering endeavor for me. And, no I haven't had problems with girls falling for me but I'm just too damn distrusting and suspicious of shallow motives (Which I posit to be a reflection of my shallowness, haha.).
