Is it normal to never call people by their names?

So I just recently discovered that I don't actually call people by their names. And when I do call out to people who I want to talk to, I just say "hey" or just straight out tell them what I want to say directly and it just grabs their attention so I didn't feel the need to call out to them. I haven't noticed having this habit until one of my friends pointed it out when we were hanging out and the rest of my friends we were with had all agreed about this behavior of mine. In retrospect, this behavior is to blame for me frequently forgetting my acquaintances' names. It's not related to anxiety since I'm fairly social, but if I have to guess I think I just don't like mentioning them but I'm not sure why. And to add, I don't have trouble mentioning people's names if I"m talking about them rather than directly to them. Should I start addressing them? Is it rude not to use their names?

It's just a lazy habit. You should make an effort to call people by their names to show respect.

i do it to. i only use their names if i cant get their attention or im talking to someone else. its normal and the people youre talking to hardly ever notice. its not impolite unless someone adresses the way you talk to them and you still do it

    Seems rather impolite.
