God you mum sounds like a total cow, she should be encouraging you to be more outgoing or whatever put not insulting you! WTF?! Anyway, I was the same when I was younger but once I started actually hanging out with my friends outside of school (usually doing things that I'd do by myself with them, i.e. xbox360+pizza+beer) it's actually a lot more fun than being by yourself.
