  • Having relationships and communication is something everyone has to learn. From what I know about autism, pretty much everyone who has it has a harder time expressing themselves, which is a big part of communication.

Like with anything, practice makes you better at it. Even though it seems like everyone around you is already good at it, there are plenty of people who are not. You are far from alone.

As far as telling you how to learn about relationships or making friends, it's not really something that can be done in a comment.

I have heard about something that I think is somewhat recent where at some colleges, and possibly some high schools and grade schools, there are classes specifically for people with autism who struggle with these kinds of things. I don't know how wide spread it is, so it may not be in your area, but it is an option you could look into.

If there are no better options, just try having conversations with people. Practice and time can go a long way.

    • Yeah, I can agree with the expression issues. I'm much better with text actually. If you don't mind me telling, actually my biggest detriment is anxiety issues because of that label... I have a hard time talking really because I worry to much that I don't know how to tell that I don't sound stupid. But that's led to being inexperienced with this in general too. I'm starting to get past this tho, and I agree, practice seems to be the only thing for it.

Thanks for telling me about those classes, I haven't heard of them but I really should look into it. Headed back to college this fall anyway, why not?

Thank you so much for this.
