Is it normal to need to check reflection before snapchat or video chat?

My girlfriend gets upset that I refuse to take pictures of myself or video chat in the morning until I have seen myself in a mirror. I do this because I want to make sure that I look like a respectable human being (No nose/eye boogers, hair isn't horrible, etc).

We have been together long distance ~7 years.

Is it normal for me to want to do that? Yes or no?
