When the streets are quite which in turn, no traffic jam and found little to no idiots endangering others' lives while riding and driving on the road. That's a great moment.
I don't know where you live mate, but road idiots are more present now, than ever before. Especially in the morning.
It's when all the old people drive 20 under the limit to get to the supermarket at 8AM to do their shopping (every day of the fucking week), spend about 10 minutes in front of the store door putting their military grade masks on and then slowly drive back home.
Or at least that's most people in Germany during this insanity.
I live in an asian country. Road idiots are more present in my country too as the lockdown thing is loosened up now which made me miss the joyful day of quite streets and peaceful driving. As the drivers who drive like snails, I share your agony man.
I was going to ask.. this can't be in America..There are sadly not a lot of old people left here to drive bad =(
I miss going into the office for work. Video calls and communicating via chat is the worst. It was nice when the lockdown started but I'm fucking sick of it now.
What I don't miss is having people everywhere. It's so nice to go to a shop with a limited amount of people, standing neatly in distanced queues, etc. I'll miss that distancing aspect once this all ends.
Oh and I miss going to the cinema. On the plus side I've found some great stuff on Netflix that I would've overlooked otherwise.
Corona wiped out the college sports industry. Was working for one of the regional broadcast networks. Just got word last monday that all fall sports are a no go.
But I do start a new job in september (assuming there are some schools in my area that decide its safe enough to start hybrid irl learning)
Yeah, man. I'm completely with you. We've hit a recession due to this as well. It's pathetic that we're so weak as people that we hid from fear of this.
They reckon it's a lot less now. I remember a study from Italy when it was originally really hard hit, and basically people don't go to hospital by and large unless they're really seriously ill from it. + You have things like asymptomatic cases, or very mild cases. I think they now reckon it's around 0.5-1%, with some regions at low as 0.2 something.
I could see that. I think I may possibly have had covid a few weeks ago but I was under job mandated quarantine anyway and didn't bother to take the test. Whatever I had was about as bad as a sinus infection.
Hugs and sex and going to the library; going to the football with my family, including my grand daughter's matches; local live music; celebrating family birthdays.
My life hasnt changed at all. I never missed work and we barely closed down here. They shut the gyms down for 2 weeks or something. What I miss is crowds in UFC matches.
I miss going out to eat and drink with my older family members. I miss huggs and kisses. I miss sharing a drink, or a bite of something delicious. I miss just casually passing a joint, or a dab rig or a mask and snorkel when I'm diving. I miss traveling internationally, on a plane. I miss drinking and making out with a new friend. I miss weddings, and child births, and funerals. I miss people getting promoted with work.
I miss so many friends losing their jobs. But that leads to less traffic which is nice I suppose. I guess we made some money by investing in stay at home companies. Other than that i can't think of any positives.
I miss going shopping at a decently sized Macy's, eating at restaurants, drinking in bars, getting my hair cut. I miss shaking hands with, and hugging people. I miss sharing a blunt with a good friend.
I miss the malls so much! They've reopened, but the one near me is losing two anchor stores due to the pandemic. Well, JcPenney and Lord & Taylor were struggling before this, but it's just weird that stores that were there for so long are leaving.
Yeah. The convenience of internet shopping kind of killed malls.
I don't really get the point of shopping for clothes online. I can't try them on and the sizing charts on some websites are inaccurate, so I would wind up with stuff that's too big. Having to go through the hassle of shipping it back for a refund or exchange was annoying.
At the stores, I can just try things on and determine if they fit without any problems. Also, walking around the stores and eating food court food is just fun. XD
I hate online shopping, I am super picky with needing to physically see and touch/ try on the item before purchasing it. Photographs can be so manipulated to make the product look soo good that you wouldnt question buying it. Unfortunately brick and mortar is dying out so the internet is going to have more choices.
I kinda dread going out now, because everything feels like some post apocalyptic Twilight Zone episode. I went to Macys, and the store looked like it was having a going out of business sale, and had been hit by very neat looters, or something. Everything is old, out of season, and on sale, but there's not much there anyway. There are hardly any customers, and even less clerks. I'm wearing a stupid mask like everyone else, except I've got my sunglasses on, because I was too lazy to switch to my regular glasses. All of the sudden the music switches to I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor, and I feel trippy even though I'm sober. I find myself wishing that I had smoked a blunt, but that would probably have just made me paranoid, and dissociative... but wait, I'm already slightly dissociated. It's all very surreal, yet depressing. I'm not in a hurry to repeat the experience.
I miss everything. I miss meeting up with friends at the local pub, running the place until it closes, cheap plane tickets, driving around for fun... The list goes on and on.
I miss people being remotely nice. With masks hiding peoples identities, lots of folks have turned into massive assholes with no repercussions.
Lockdowns may save a few thousand lives in old folks homes, but they condemn hundreds of millions to misery worse than the one during the great depression.
The freedom to not wear a mask. I feel like a bandit entering places with a mask and sunglasses. Heck I dont even wear hoodies up to make the person at the counter feel like they are less likely to be robbed.
