Is it normal to meet the mother on 2nd date

I met a chinese girl, we went out for coffee. As a second date she asked me out for lunch with her mother.... Is it normal? I thought it might be a cultural thing...

It's cultural. They actually give a crap about what their parents think. Unlike American children.

I would dump her before going on that lunch, I don't need any "moms" messing with my life.

Yeah it's normal! People always want their boyfriend or girlfriend, ect. to meet their parents! It's always a good idea becuase you want to know who your children are dealying with and who they are in love with, ect. (You all get my point, lol) But just like inuyashao489(28589)said, chinese people are really traditional! So don't worry, it's just how they are!

My husband told me once about how he met this chick online years ago, when he first went to meet her her whole family was there, from parents, to cousins, nieces, nephews, brothers, sisters, grandparents etc... He never called her again lol these people move to quickly & we don't live in an asian country so they shouldn't be doing that.

I'm asian & I don't do that - it's just weird, you can't really know someone by introducing them to your whole family... It's uncomfortable. Go for it if you want to rush into marriage - don't go if you're not ready! That's their mentality - marriage! They keep forgetting what country they are in!!

If it's a culture thing, know this..Sum moms need to okay the guy her daughter is dating...to assess if he's a "good" guy and "serious", as in the marrying type or not.
If it's not culture-related, she's just close to her mom, or she wanted to hit two birds with one stone!
