Is it normal to masturbate while laying face down with your pants on?

When I was a kid, one day I accidentally started touching myself while I was laying face down on my bed and found that it felt really good. I continued to masturbate this way my whole life. I don't even touch myself as I keep my pants on and I just rub the inside of my thighs and move back and forth.
