Is it normal to make people believe I am rich?

  • I go to a similar university and I started dressing well and wearing expensive clothes (that I find cheap), but everybody knows I'm pretty poor.

Dress the way you like, but don't lie to people you want to be close to. You'll never be able to talk about your family or the things you care about it, you'll never be able to trust anybody if you start making up a lie about where you come from.

You think you'd be able to last through it but you won't. I know compulsive liars. They can't connect to anybody, they're very conspicuously insecure, and fucking nobody and I mean NOBODY respects them.

Don't wait for somebody to encourage you or wheedle you out of this. Don't fucking do it. Seriously dude. Don't.

You think people only respected you after you got "rich", but I'd bet any odds that it's only because you feel more confident now than you did before. Carry yourself the way you think you'll be respected, but remember where you come from.

Remember a lot of these kids' parents made their own fortunes. Came from the ground up. The richest people I know are more humble than you can imagine. Like Central Park rich. Don't sweat it. You'll find that people have more to offer than you think.
