I say, carry on what you're doing and if you keep any of these friends when you graduate, let em know the truth. Don't waste too much money funding a sham though.
I hope you didn't leave your first university based solely on friends... I'm in second year and don't talk with anyone on a frequent basis (no friends, good class buds..) and I like it. I can't imagine leaving just cause I don't know people there.
