It's normal for people to want to put on at least somewhat of an air of having more success or money than they actually have, doing it to such an extent that it consumes you is a very bad thing. I've known a few people who outwardly seemed to have it all but in reality they had maxxed out credit cards and couldn't afford anything they had. It's sad and pathetic.
My grandparents did this so much that they ended up losing everything they had and had to move in with my aunt. Even after they had to move in with her, they still managed to have 2 brand new vehicles, which astonished me that their priorities were so messed up still even after losing everything.
You said you want to get married-so what happens if you meet a nice girl and you've told her all kinds of lies about your background and financial means?? What happens when she comes to meet your family and you are exposed? No matter how understanding she is, to find out you have lied so much would likely end the relationship. You can't live a lie forever.
I'd say just be yourself and be happy with who you are and where you came from. I think it's admirable that you came from a poor background and accomplished as much as you have.
Is it normal to make people believe I am rich?
