    Round where I'm from, 'lover' is frequently used as per the 2nd definition, and often specifically referring to a sexual relationship. Perhaps you haven't encountered this before, but I'd be careful to make sure when correcting people that you are right.

    • Meh, doesn't convince me. Words ending in 'er' like that should simply mean a person who does something, so 'lover' should be a person who loves. English language is all wrong.

      • Meh, language is rarely straightforward. You can redefine the rules for yourself but kindly refrain from imposing your unique take on English upon me :P
