Rubbing fabric between my fingers is something I clearly remember doing as a kid. I know exactly what you mean about labels and satin fabrics; I was fascinated by the feel and the subtle rustling sound this produced. I grew out of this habit, though, and it never progressed to anyting else. So I don't know if this helps.
