30 years old, Mexican female here. I never knew anybody else that did this, and I'm happy it occurred to me to look in the Internet for more information about this. So far I haven't been lucky, it appears this has not yet been researched or studied, but it would be great to learn why some people needs to rub fabric with the fingers because is the best.
I usually do it just because the feeling is nice, and I tend to look for comfort in doing this when I'm feeling specially anxious and stressed. I don't carry a piece of fabric with me, but I think I'll start!
Since I was little I have always had a favorite sheet that satisfies my rubbing needs haha. And now I have a set of sheets for my bed that I like and one that I don't because is not ideal for rubbing, so I'm always looking forward for the day that I get to change the sheets! I also have a sweater with a little piece of fabric in the inside and when I'm out I can't help but look for the fabric and rub, rub, rub.
These are some of my experiences. I'm glad there are other people like me :)
