  • I too am a silky/satin addict! Where have you people been all of my life?! Lol! I thought it was rare that I still do this. It has been a great comfort for as long as I can remember, to rub satin like fabrics between my fingers. I happen to have an old slip that I use and almost always need at night to sooth myself to sleep. I have previously had other blankets and pieces of satin, its actually not so much what it is but how it feels between my fingers. I even have a couple coats that have that satiny lining and find myself with my fingers rubbing the inside of the sleeve. I went through some pretty traumatic things during my childhood and am now a 34 y/o wife and mother. My question for you all is this, have any of you also had traumatic events in your childhood too? Just curious.

    • Wow so its not just me! I can't sleep or go a day without my satin pillowcase. When I'm in public I use the lining of my jacket sleeve. I've done it ever since I can remember, I've tried but after 36 yrs. I just figure its normal for me. The only person who knows about it is my boyfriend and it doesn't bother him a bit. He said "well at least your not eating catfood or sneaking cocaine" recently Icleaned my dads closet for him, and found a brand new satin pillowcase. I asked him if I could have it he said no problem why do you need it. My reply was simply "let's just say I wore the last one out" its fresh and new now I can barely put the damn thing down! I call myself a flicker, when I get sad, mad, happy, bored I tell my boyfriend I need to flick. Don't let me lose my pillowcase I go nuts until I find it. Its nice to know I'm not the only one.

    • Yes I have been through plenty of traumatic events and The "rubbing" helps relive stress and helps you cope better.
