I voted this as normal and it is, but that's also the risk. Most of us want someone to connect with and it's easier than ever to do that online. The feelings are real. I have to repeat that: the feelings are real. But the usual safeguards--meet their friends and family, even see them in person--aren't there. This fact isn't lost on the predators out there. Of course when feelings take over, people even ignore warning signs when they meet others in real life. But in cyberspace you don't even get the warning signs. Keep yourself safe.
