Is it normal to love someone with this much of an age difference?

So for over a year now, i have been in love with a guy 19 years older than me.... Now, i get all the time "When he was 19, you were being born!" and "He's old! You should like someone your own age," but i can't help it! He's so sweet and nice to me, not to mention handsome. I feel like i connect to him more than i do with guys my own age.
Though, i do have some friends who actually know him and approve.
Now, we aren't dating yet, but from all the signs i have been receiving, i'd say he likes me too. I'm planning on asking him out on my upcoming birthday.
But do you think this is normal? And do you think this could work out?

    Don't ask him out, not because he is old but because it's best to see if HE asks YOU out. The age difference is not the worst thing in the world.

    It's not unusual for girls and women to like older men, because they're often more mature than guys in their teens, 20's, and even 30's sometimes. If you're over 18, then there's no harm in asking him out. I wouldn't do it on your birthday, though, because you might come to hate it if things don't work out with this man. Ask him on a regular day. Good luck!

    If ur both adults y not, my ova half is 9 years 9 days younger and it's worked for 5 years now so just be happy and age is just a number. Food luck
