Is it normal to love/hate your mother at the same time?

  • You know, I really have no idea what to advise here because I actually went to infant and junior school with someone who was the product of father/daughter incest. Their house was much how you describe your own (maybe worse as the extended family continued to live together).

However, people lie. I'm not suggesting you are a liar; I'm just for the first time realising that maybe my friend from school wasn't actually the product of incest (he didn't tell me this himself and we never discussed it, but everyone said it about him). Given that he was from a country other than our own and his "father" was mysteriously absent, it's occurring to me that people made it up.

On those grounds, I'm going to say nothing because I don't want to give you bad advice. What I will say, though, is that if I was your mother, I would be in a difficult position. Same as if I were you. There are no easy answers here but you do need to communicate with the people involved, rather than us.
