    Just as a side note, following their defeat in WW2 it was made an offence to sing the first verse which start with those three words, the German national anthem is now started from the second verse.

        I don't think it is really, I think attitudes have changed, apparently a significant number of German youth didn't even know there was a second world war.
        However, a Ladies boot is only a high polish away from an officer's jack boot..........
