Is it normal to love anime people more than the real ones?

  • Actually, this is a pretty typical thing. It's called being a fangirl/boy. It's more common in girls, and usually younger ones, but it can occur at any age.

Though I HATE using this reference, it's one of the best ones out there, you know those girls who, even before the movies were made, were totally in love with Edward Cullen? Well, they were fangirls of him. And they're usually the ones who will tell you you're not normal for liking and anime character. Truth be told, same thing in both cases, an emotional attachment with a fictional character.

I'm 18, and I'm very guilty of being a fangirl, not only of anime characters, but cartoon characters as well. I think it really has to do with the fact that finding the "perfect" guy is a lot easier when you can imagine that they'll be good to you. Example, when I was younger I was totally in love with Takeru from Digimon, and my friend loved Kouichi from Digimon. We'd write fanfics, and go online and roleplay as our own characters with the Digimon boys. I grew out of this fandom, but realised I loved him so much because he had the perfect personality for me, and since he wasn't real, if I wanted to say he loved me he couldn't say no, or be mean to me.

Besides, anime characters not only usually have personalities that make you love them, but damn do they look good!

So, yes, it's actually a pretty normal thing for any age and gender.
