"Waifu" doesn't mean cute, it's just an Engrish version of the word "wife."
I guess it's normal for some people to be more drawn into something that's idealized and controllable like that, and if you consider real people just as unattainable, it begins to make even more sense.
The idea of falling in love with ANYTHING strikes me as odd though. You sicko. :P
