Lots of people seem to have been in this situation, so in that sense it's normal. Some people tend to want what they can't have. Can't say I've felt that way myself, but that's just me. Come to think of it, I have been attracted to people who used to like me before but not in a very strong way.
Anyway, back on topic: just ask him if he's still interested in you. There's a chance he really has moved on by now, but there's also a chance he actually is still interested deep down but is concealing it. No harm can come from asking :)
