  • What's wrong with hedonism? Is it normal to avoid pleasure and seek pain?

    • Nothing's wrong with anything, because right and wrong don't exist. What happens is that people value different things and usually try to convince others to share their beliefs. I personally don't value hedonism and think it's quite shallow and pointless. If you value hedonism I won't try to murder you, but I'll try to make you see things my way.

      • Life itself is pointless so one might as well try to maximise pleasure and minimise pain. It's also a value judgement to say it's shallow.

        • That's what you think, because you think pain is bad and pleasure is good. Okay.
Yes, it is a value judgement.

          • Animals avoid pain too. Helps surviving.

            • Yes, and you're assuming surviving is good. So you avoid pain to survive, because you want to survive, because you think surviving is good. See how it's endless and leads to nothing except proof that right and wrong and good and bad are entirely subjective?
