I was & am the same, only it happens for years rather than weeks or months.
A couple of years ago nobody loved heavy metal like I did – I had the band t-shirts, the jacket with patches on, black nail varnish, etc. I had a bunch of friends who were the same.
Then my enthusiasm for it all started to lessen. It's all but gone now, as has the clothing (it's a good job I don't see said friends now, because if they knew I’d never hear the end of it) I asked dad why there was all this stuff played in the house that I couldn't stand. His response was that somebody did want it put on & it wasn't him ... I couldn't believe it.
I think you'll always prefer what you grew up with to what you find yourself; it's part of you, like your DNA. I hope my enthusiasm for heavy metal comes back because if it doesn't I’ll be left with a bunch of CDs that don't get played, which is pointless.
Is it normal to like or dislike one kind of music for periods of time?
