Limburger is pungent, but it's pretty wimpy compared to casu marzu, a Sardinian sheep cheese which contains the live maggots of the cheese fly. In other words, this cheese is not just matured or well-aged, it is actively decomposing.
It's considered to be unsafe to eat the cheese once the maggots have died.
One of the most amusing things about this delicacy is that the maggots can launch themselves about 15 cm through the air when disturbed. Another unique quality is that the maggots can survive in the human intestine.
I've read about casu marzu, it's makes me seriously sick in my stomach to think people actually eat that. They're eating spoiled cheese with live maggots on it!! I don't even want to be near anyone who's eaten that. Give me the limburger any day.
Iin to like Limburger cheese ?

Casu marzu - perfect for feeding 1% bankers in prison - in large quantities, of course.
