When I was depressed as a kid people had different expectations of me. There was less how I should talk what I should say or do. I got to read my books and choose how much time I spend with people. I hate this classification of personalities. One personality is right, and the rest are illnesses. Talk about control. We can think whatever we want, but they require us to feel certain ways for certain amounts of time, for certain reasons. And if a five minute pep talk and pigeon hole program doesn't cure somebody. give them drugs. Drug mandated behavior. Look up these shootings that have been going on. 100% are people on anti-depressants, or anti-depressant withdrawals. 100%. These shootings started in the 70's when they started prescribing them, And they have increased as prescriptions have proliferated. Yeah it's normal to want to feel bad sometimes. Not the kind of normal that won't make you stick out in a crowd, but the kind of normal that forms your perspective in life. It is not normal for everyone to grow and mature emotionally exactly the same way as everyone else. If you have sense of right and wrong, and care about others that will see you through anything.
