Is it normal to like conventionall unappealing smells?

I like normal things like flowers and vanilla and rosemary, but the smells I like the most are the ones considered odd or unappealing.

I love bleach/chlorine, burning rubber or plastic, chemical cleaners, moldy carpet, gasoline/diesel fuel, lighter fluid, hot tar, cat fur, basically anything burned, the stuff used on acrylic nails, etc.

Is that normal? Is there a reason certain people like certain smells?

    Haha, I like some of those smells too. One of my favorite smells is clean wood burning tho. And I love the way horses and ferrets smell even though most people say they stink :P

    I like some of those. And some types of new leather smells. As a kid I even liked people smoking around me. I found the smell kind of comforting. I'm more sensitive to it now, though.

    I like them too. I'm not too crazy about gasoline and cat fur but the rest I quite like:)
    I absolutely love the smell of cigarettes!

    I once smelled a combination of bleach and ammonia powder and I thought it was rather heavenly. But everyone else thought I had problems:/

    I like the smell of gasoline, nail polish and fire smoke. It's all just each person's random preferences.
