Is it normal to like a girl but struggle finding things to talk about?

The easiest thing to do is what I call "hobby lure".

First you state a hobby you like. Then you ask what hobbies they like. Hopefully they don't hold out and give you at least one. Then you pick one, aim for one you know least of, and say "really? What is (insert hobby)" and well that what I do. It works for me most of the time.

But I still don't succeed due to other reasons.
