If you say something, you need to make really clear that you regret it and you feel guilty and that you're very sorry. Also explain how you felt left out and that you let peer pressure to have a boyfriend get the better of you. I hope they forgive you, but don't expect them to straight away. If someone confessed something like this to me, I think I'd need a bit of time to let it sink in before I could forgive them. Hopefully they will understand that you were feeling very insecure. It doesn't sound like you did it for attention, but out of insecurity. Just make sure you are totally clear about the fact that you realise it was a stupid thing to do.
