Is it normal to lay in bed and eat?

I like to lay in bed and snack on food. Sometimes I'll lay out the food, like chips and cheesesticks on my chest as I eat them. Sometimes I'll fall asleep, then wake up and find the food all over the bed, under the covers. I'll find the food and eat it, then fall asleep again. Is thhis weird?

  • It's not normal. Why do you need to fall asleep while eating? This is not sanitary and leads to bedbugs as well as eating disorders. Reminds me of babies that need bottles to sleep and fall back asleep later. It strikes me as an abnormal soothing/coping mechanism. Are you stressed? Can you sleep without doing this?

  • My husband does this and it drives me crazy - the crumbs in the bed AND wondering how a person can eat while reclined (yeah I know the Romans did it but I still don't get it)... but if you enjoy it and aren't bothering anybody it shouldn't be a problem, right?

  • You obviously don't mind fighting off armed ninja cockroach forces in the nights.

  • Make sure you clean your sheets frequently, your bed may become a cesspool of hazardous germs

  • I've been doing this since 2001. Sometimes I'll wake up in the middle of the night with an overwhelming urge to chow down. I always take food back to bed and then end up falling to sleep while I'm eating.
