I think the 'dog's mouth is cleaner than a humans' has a lot to do with the fact that we can catch way more shit from people that we can from animals.
If you have been bitten by both you will find that doctors run a gamut of test for all the possible infections from the human bite. The place where you were bitten will swell and bruise like you wouldn't believe.
A dog bite leaves puncture wounds and as long as it isn't rabid, doctors aren't too concerned.
