If you have a stillborn then you usually keep the baby for a few hours afterwards to cuddle and bathe it. It's a standard thing that hospitals do, which is supposed to help with the grieving process.
I don't get how they can cuddle the body, then burn it or bury it, when the body is almost all they have known of the person... barring perhaps the little kicks in utero and... well, what would I know?
