why would they ask you about your religious views, if you all went to the same church? that part doesn't make a lot of sense to me. i also didn't know catholics shout their religious belief out to people. my husband is ex-catholic and he's never had that experience, i just asked him about it.
i think you're over-reacting just a bit. if you had confidence in your own opinions, then opinions of others are not really so bothersome. however, it is a faux pas to talk about religion outside of your church in a public setting.
