Is it normal to keep my beliefs to myself?

  • I agree with you completely. My own experience has been atheist for most of my 65 years, until I met a Church going Catholic woman who asked me to accompany her to Church. Out of curiosity and love for my, now, fiance, I started studying all the mysterious things I was seeing and hearing there. I decided to give up atheism for Lent, just to try out being Catholic, or at least believing, acting and praying like a Catholic. Before Lent was over, I was smitten and joined the RCIA classes.

All my friends are atheist so I decided to simply keep my "journey" to myself and share it only with my fiance who, needless to say, was overjoyed. Frankly, it would be hard to explain it all to my friends as I was so ardently atheist for so many years. I just find, now, that Catholicism feels good and fits me well. I prefer to live it and not tell others how to live as this, too, feels right for me. So, yes, I totally understand, even if from a different perspective.
