The part about your old friends makes sense, especially about working out a strategy to try and talk to them again.
Wanting so badly to be friends with people on random websites does sound a bit like you’re idolising these people though. It’s easy to see someone’s cultivated online persona and fall into the trap of thinking they’re wonderful and would light up your life.
